Elecon Worm gearboxes provide high torque with low speed gear ratio. Being simple and compact in design, these gears can achieve higher gear ratio than the helical gears. These worm reduction gears having screw type qualities are similar to helical gears, but its helix angle is typically comparatively larger) and its body is normally quite long in the axial direction. The gears in these gearboxes can be right or left-handed depending upon the purpose.

Mounting option include universal housing, side flanges, foot (horizontal and vertical), shaft mounted with torque arm. Available in Solid shafts (single or double), with torque arm or torque limiter.

TA – TURBO GEAR UNIT (DOUBLE HELICAL GEAR)

The TA TURBO Gear unit is a single stage step-up or reduction Gear unit with horizontally offset. It is designed as a double helical Gear unit. High Gearing quality and tooth flank modification adapted to actual tooth load allow for extremely high pitch line velocity. Double helical Gear units are simple to design & manufacture and compact. Double helical gearboxes are more efficient than single helical gear boxes. This Gear unit is used in high speed plants such as turbo generators, turbo Compressor, Boiler feed pump application etc.

TAD – TURBO GEAR UNIT (SINGLE HELICAL GEAR)

The TAD turbo Gear unit is a single stage step-up or reduction gearbox with horizontally offset. It is designed as a single helical gearunit.to the thrust collar technique. The tooth thrust resulting from helical teeth is being compensated through thrust collar.

Elecon manufacturers wind turbine gearboxes in capacities of 55 kW, 250 kW and 300 kW in technical collaboration with M/s Wind Master of Belgium.

A wind turbine effectively transfers kinetic energy harvested from wind to mechanical energy that drives a rotor, which coupled with a gearbox drives a motor to generate electricity. A wind turbine gearbox helps increase slow rotational speed of the rotor to a high speed motor to generate electricity. Turbine gearbox with 1:36 and 1:17 ratios help increase 42 RPM of rotor to 1550 RPM and 1031 on the generator side.

Due to unforgiving operating and environmental conditions, there are several challenges to designing and manufacturing a robust wind turbine gearbox. The high torque rotor when transferring its mechanical movement to the gearbox, subjects the drive train to enormous amounts of force. The turbine gearbox needs to be designed to withstand these high loads to prevent premature wear of internal components, to achieve longer preventive maintenance cycles and prevent costly breakdowns.
